Product Description
Package VPP-M
The package consists of the moisture meter Ligno-VersaTec (pin-pinless-RH) and 3 pin electrodes in a hard-shell carry case. The electrode E12 is mainly used to measure wood, wood floors, subfloors and structural lumber. The slim shape of the electrode E14-V can measure places which the electrode E12 cannot reach easily, corners, around window sills, behind wall cavities. The sturdiness of the E14-V and EG pins allows for measuring hard materials such as strand bamboo, hard hardwood and cementitious panel products. The electrode E16 is for measuring hard building materials such as concrete, brick, tile or grout.
The package VPP-M consists of:
- Ligno-VersaTec
- Electrode E12 with 1 pair each DA and DZ pins
- BNC Cable for E12
- Electrode E14-V with BNC cable, 1 pair EG pins
- Electrode E16 with 1 pair EC pins
- BNC-E16 Cable for E16
- Case M
The Ligno-VersaTec is the most advanced meter among Lignomat’s moisture meters for pin-pinless-RH measurements. Features are the wide moisture range and more than 170 correction settings for measuring domestic and tropical wood species, OSB and other panel products, bamboo, gypsum and different types of wall boards. Relative scales are included for concrete, cementitious materials, plastics, insulation… for the floor installer, inspector. Ligno-VersaTec is for all industries, where moisture measurements are an integral part of everyday decision making
The meter by itself provides for dual-depth pinless measurements. Connectors for pin electrodes and RH cables or RH adapter are installed in the top of the meter.
– BNC connector for electrode cables and in-kiln, remote cables with Adapter H
– 3.5mm stereo jack to connect RH cable or RH adapter.
Two measuring plates for pinless dual-depth mode are mounted on the back of the meter.
Package includes E12 pin electrode and accessories for measuring RH/T ambient conditions and in-situ concrete moisture testing
Pinless Measurements
The Ligno-VersaTec allows fast and easy scanning of flat surfaces 1/4″ and 3/4″ deep. Percent values are indicated for all wood species, OSB and other panel products, bamboo and drywall. Relative scales are for all other materials including concrete. If the material is not flat, or measurements should reach deeper or you need to find differences between surface and core moisture, the Electrodes E12 can be used to accomplish those tasks.
Electrode E12: The E12 is designed to measure from the surface to 2″ deep (with DB pins). All E12 pins are insulated and measure only at the tip. The slide hammer helps inserting and removing the pins.
As pins are hammered into the material, consecutive readings show the moisture distribution within the material at every depth level the pins are driven to. The ability to measure a moisture gradient is one of the main reasons for our customers to use the E12.
Wood: Taking numerous readings indicate if a moisture gradient exists or if the wood is dry throughout the core. Making sure wood is evenly dried is the best assurance for quality wood products. When inspecting wood floors, using the E12 gives you a tool to assess moisture distribution through floor planks into the sub floor without having to remove any floor planks.
Restoration: The moisture in structural components even behind wall coverings can be checked with the electrode E12. When assessing water damage, the pins of the E12 can be driven to different depth levels and thus indicate how far water has been absorbed or if there is still residual moisture inside the structure after drying. Insulated pins can measure dry material behind wet surfaces.
We recommend using the electrode E14-V, when the round head of the E12 cannot reach the area to be measured. Also, if measuring extremely hard materials, the E14-V with EG pins can be pounded harder into material than using the slide hammer of the E12.
Electrode E12, BNC cable and 1 pair each DZ and DA pins are included in package VPP-M.
Available pins for E12:
DZ 1″, DA 1.5″ , DB 2″, teflon-coated
Electrode E14-V: The slim shape of the head of the electrode allows for checking tight places, around pipes, below window sills, in wall corners, places which cannot be reached with the E12. Adding the 7″ long EL pins lets you reach through insulation or under baseboards into structural components. Great for EIFS inspections.
The knob at the end of the handle can be removed and replaced by a paint brush handle or broom stick. Using the paint brush handle allows to extend the reach. You can stay a distance from mold infested areas and still be able to get reliable measurements. Extending the handle with a broom stick makes measuring carpets and carpet padding easy without crouching down. Ceilings can be checked for moisture leakage without a ladder.
Pins measure only at the tip. EG and EL pins are teflon coated up to the electrode handle. Moisture from a wet surface is never picked up, even if the pins are pushed all the way into the material.
Electrode and pins are very sturdy and allow hard pounding to insert the pins into hard materials. Works for strand bamboo as well as hard and cementitious panel products.
Electrode E14-V with BNC cable and 1 pair EG pins are included in the package VPP-M.
Available pins for E14:
EG pins teflon coated, measuring depth 3/4″
EL pins teflon coated, measuring depth 7″
EC 5/8″, EA 7/16″, EV 3/16″, un-coated
Electrode E16: Consists of 2 separate posts with one pin each, 3″ long. The separate posts are easier to insert into hard materials and allow spacing the posts further apart than with other electrodes. Pre-drilling holes may be necessary to reach the desired measuring depth.
Using a pin meter with electrode E16 gives immediate results when measuring concrete. The measurements can show areas of high and low moisture, either when measuring different locations or when measuring with EL pins at different depth levels. However, it cannot replace the in-situ probe test or the Calcium-Chloride test which allow to determine, if a wood floor or other resilient floor covering can be installed.

- Overview Lignomat concrete meters
Measurements obtained with the Ligno-VersaTec from concrete or cementitious materials are not true percent values. They only can be used as reference numbers or comparative readings. Comparative measurements become meaningful, when a dry sample piece of the material is available. All measurements can then be compared to the moisture value obtained from the dry sample.
We recommend a distance of 4.5″ between the posts for measuring cement and cementitious materials to increase the measuring range, because moisture values can be very high even for dry conditions. Another advantage for using the dual pin posts.
Electrode E16, BNC-E16 cable and 1 pair EC pins are included in package VPP-M.
Available pins for E16:
EG 3/4″ and EL 7″ deep, teflon coated
EC 5/8″, EA 7/16″, EV 3/16″, un-coated
Options for VPP-M package:
Adding pins #DB 2″ for E12.
Adding pins #EL 7″ for E14-V and E16.
Adding RH Thermo-Hygro probe to measure relative humidity and temp
Adding cables to monitor drying-out after water damage or to monitor remote inaccessible areas.
