Even and uneven moisture distribution is easily detected as the pins are hammered towards the core. No other tool can achieve the same measuring accuracy at a defined measuring depth. Used in lumber drying, wood manufacturing, flooring, woodworking, restoration and water damage repair.

For mini-Ligno moisture meters: To obtain core measurements in thicker wood, a fresh cut is needed to measure the end grain. If it is not feasible to cut the wood, use mini-Ligno DX/C, S/DC, MD/C and add electrode E12 and mini-BNC cable.

Product Description

The electrode E12 can measure up to 2″ deep with teflon insulated pins. The electrode E12 is an indispensable tool for assessing moisture distribution. It is used when drying lumber, manufacturing cabinets and furniture, inspecting floors, for woodworking, in the building and restoration industry, etc.

The electrode E12 is equipped with a slide hammer: Hammering downwards to insert the pins, hammering upwards to detract the pins. When working with a mini-Ligno, it can be cumbersome to insert the pins by hand into hard wood. Using the electrode E12 allows easier pin insertion and deeper measurements without cutting the wood.
As the pins are hammered towards the core, moisture distribution within the 2″ reach becomes obvious. Consecutive readings show the moisture distribution within the material, this is particularly important for thicker wood.
The pins have insulated shanks to measure only at the tip. The E12 measures a wet core behind a dry surface, but will also detect when material is dry behind a wet surface. Helpful when checking moisture infiltration from high humidity, rain, leaking pipes or floods.

Pin versus pinless: The ability to measure a moisture gradient up to 2″ deep is one of the main reasons, why customers still use pin meters over pinless meters. Pinless meters indicate one moisture value for the entire measuring field, whereas pin meters show the moisture distribution in a small area between the tips of the pins. Plus pinless meters cannot reach 2″ deep. The thicker the lumber, the more important it is to reach the core. The Electrode E12 is the right tool for thorough moisture control.

DZ, DA and DB pins can only be used with the Electrode E12.

Select pins for required measuring depth. At least 1/3rd of the board thickness should be penetrated to reach the core section of the wood.

DA pins: measuring depth 1.5″ (3.8cm) total length 2 1/8″ (5.4cm)
