Whenever moisture has to be monitored, but the location cannot be reached with the handheld meter. Once cables are installed, connect the meter and adapter H to obtain measurements at any time. 

PK probe and cable systems are often used to monitor lumber drying in all types of dry kilns – from solar to conventional steam kilns, small to industrial kilns.

The Lignometer K incorporates reliability, calibration accuracy and ease-of-operation with over 150 individual wood species corrections, a wide measuring range 5-99% and built-in wood temperature corrections. Unsurpassed accuracy is guaranteed even in the critical range below 8%. The Lignometer K has proven to perform well in rough mill environments with day-to-day usage. 

A BNC connector is installed in the top of the meter for pin electrodes and for in-kiln or extension cables (with Adapter H) is installed in the top of the meter. 

PK systems have been used to measure moisture inside dry kilns for over 50 years . To this day, the same PK probes are used with Lignomat’s dry kiln control systems for small and industrial kilns. If multiple probes and cables are used, kiln performance can be checked by distributing the cables in top, bottom, sides and middle sections of the kiln. Cables are standard 12ft long, but can be custom-cut upon request up to 50 ft long .

All probes have a hole in the head for pushing a 4 mm banana plug through. This is a fail-proof connection. The probes have teflon-coated shanks, which insure that moisture is measured where the tip of the PK probe is and measurements are not affected by surface moisture. Probes are inserted into pre-drilled holes and are set and removed correctly with the Pulling Tool.

All PK probes are made out of stainless steel to withstand the harsh conditions in a kiln. They can be re-used for many drying cycles. Using pulling tool will help to set and remove probes without any damage.

PK probes can be used in many materials other than wood, such as concrete, brick, tile, roofing. They monitor changes in moisture content at the depth where the tips of the probes are placed.

– handheld moisture meters (Lignometer K or Ligno-Versatec)
– MC Tracker data logger
– wireless transmitters

Cables: The PK-H cables have 4mm plugs on each end. The plugs fit the PK probes on one end and the adapter H, switch box or angle connector on the other end. To connect PK cables with split ends to the moisture meter Lignometer K and Ligno-VersaTec, the adapter H is used.

Pin meter comes with a BNC connection for external electrodes or in-kiln cables, manual, laminated species card and battery.

The Lignometer K has 150 individualized correction settings for domestic and tropical wood species, bamboo, gypsum and wall boards (water resistant, interior and exterior). Wood temperature corrections are built-in.

PKB Probes

1 (3, 5) pair of PKB Probes, teflon-coated for core measurements. PKB Probes can be used for 4/4 to 6/4 lumber.

PK Probes are available for lumber: 4/4, 6/4, 8/4, 12/4 and a measuring depth of 2 ¾”.

PK-H Cable

1 (3, 5) PK-H Cables 6 ft long. Cables are used to connect PK probes to Lignometer K via Adapter H. All PK-H cables are high-grade, teflon-insulated cables to assure accurate transmission of measured moisture values for all kiln temperatures. Longer cables up to 50′ are available upon request.

Adapter H has a BNC connector to fit directly to the Lignometer K and the Ligno-Versatec. and 2 posts for the cable connection. Fits the 4mm plugs at the PK-H cables.
