PK Probes

PKA-PKE probes measure/monitor moisture in lumber. Used in dry kilns from small solar to large industrial kilns, pre-dryers, air drying stacks or storage areas.

Probes have teflon-coated shanks, they measure only at the tip. To chose the appropriate measuring depth, consider that at least 1/3 of the lumber thickness has to be penetrated to measure the core moisture.

PKA: measuring depth 1/2″  (1.2cm)    4/4 lumber

Product Description

The PK probe and cable systems measure/monitor wood moisture in the middle of a stack, in the middle of a kiln, or at a place that would otherwise be unreachable. The probes have a hole in the head for pushing a 4 mm banana plug through. This is a fail-proof connection. The teflon-coated shanks insure that the moisture is measured at the core and measurements are not affected by surface moisture. Probes are inserted into pre-drilled holes and can be removed with the Pulling tool.

All PK probes are made out of stainless steel to withstand the harsh conditions in a kiln. They can be used for many drying cycles.

PK probes can be used in many other materials than wood such as concrete walls, brick, tile, roofing materials, they monitor changes in moisture content at the depth where the tips of the probes are placed. The measuring cable can be connected to handheld moisture meters, angle connector and switchbox, MC Tracker data logger or wireless transmitters.
