Product Description
Ligno-Scanner S – non-invasive Moisture Meter
Lignomat’s unique measuring technology for non-invasive moisture meters assures calibration accuracy, reliability and repeatability. Measuring depth 1/4″.
The Ligno-Scanner S moisture meter indicates true wood moisture percentages corrected for different wood species. Wood species and corresponding settings are listed on a laminated species card included with each moisture meter. Wood species corrections can also be custom-programmed by entering the specific gravity between 0.3 and 1.0. A reference scale has been added to allow comparing different moisture levels in laminates and building materials, useful when searching for high moisture levels in walls, ceilings and floors after water damage.
Another pinless advantage: Pinless moisture meters from Lignomat measure lower moisture contents than pin meters for hardwoods. A great advantage for the flooring industry in areas of low relative humidity and high desert climate zones.
Calibration Stability: The Ligno-Scanner S moisture meter has proven to be a trustworthy meter, which produces the same accurate moisture percentages today, tomorrow and in a year due to internal calibration checks. The calibration is checked before each measurement and if necessary, automatically adjusted. These “background checks” before measurements assure calibration consistency for Lignomat’s pinless moisture meters. Manual recalibration by the customer is not necessary. Lignomat offers an external calibration check block TS.
Operation: Pinless moisture meters from Lignomat are easy to use. The large display indicates wood species settings, measuring depth and moisture percentages with a resolution of 0.1%. Push buttons are clearly marked. A HOLD function is available for measuring in places where the display cannot be seen or when taking photos of the display. All Lignomat moisture meters are covered by a two-year warranty.
When selecting the right Ligno-Scanner for your application consider measuring depth and materials you want to measure.
Measuring Depth: The measuring depth is crucial for all pinless moisture meters. Most pinless moisture meters are calibrated for measuring 3/4″ deep, which allows measuring products between 3/4″ and 1.5″ thick (if both sides are accessible for measurements). That presents a problem for thinner materials.
If thinner products are measured, the indicated value could be too low or too high. For products thinner than 3/4″, which are laying on a solid surface (concrete, sub floor, work table), measurements could be too high, because the solid surface is included in the measurements. If thinner products are measured with an air space underneath, measurements will be too low, because not enough of the to-be-measured product is underneath the measuring plates. The 1/4″ depth gives accurate measurements for products 5/8″ or less . Even veneer can be measured.
The meter is sensitive to surface moisture and for that reason it is ideal to check waterborne finishes between coatings or to check dryness of surfaces after industrial cleaning.
Many materials other than wood products can be checked to determine different moisture levels. Higher values indicate more moisture. When measuring wood, the Ligno-Scanner D gives accurate moisture readings in percent corrected for different wood species.
