Wood Probe Template

Wood Probe Template K-WPT is used as a template to pre-drill holes for PK wood probe placement. Having the same distance between the probes for all measurements, produces more accurate and comparable moisture values.

The template provides sets of holes for inserting the wood probes from the top of the board or from the side of the board. Once the holes are drilled at the right distance, the probes can be inserted with the pulling tool or pulling tool slide hammer.

Product Description

The wood probe template is a L-shaped piece of metal made out of aluminum. Sets of 2 holes are distributed across the larger side.

For drilling holes into the top of a board:
The longer side of the L-shaped template is set on top o the board and the two holes furthest from the edge are used. and the smaller side is pressed against the side of the board. The probes should be placed as close to the middle of the board as possible, but at least 2″ from the edge of the board.

For drilling holes into the side of a board:
Used when probes are installed after the kiln is loaded and the top of the board is not accessible any longer.

The longer side of the L-shaped template is put on the outside of the stack and the smaller side slides between the layers of stacked lumber and is pressed against the side of the board. Sets of holes are placed for the most common thicknesses of wood. The set that is closest to the middle of the board is chosen for drilling.
