Why choose between two depths?
Use the 1/4-inch setting for thinner material and the 3/4-inch setting for thicker stock; this helps limit influence from what lies beneath a thin board.
Will it leave pin holes?
No. The scanner reads from the surface without inserting pins.
Does the reference scale report wood moisture?
No. Wood species settings display corrected wood moisture percentages; the reference scale compares relative readings in other materials.
