Questions before you buy?
Why use a slide-hammer electrode?
Readings taken as the insulated pins go deeper show whether wood is dry throughout or wet at the core. The hammer also makes insertion easier in hardwood.
Can it read through a wet surface?
Yes. E12 pins are Teflon-coated and measure only at the tip, so they can find dry material behind a wet surface, or residual moisture after drying.
When would I add the E14-m electrode?
When the round E12 head cannot reach the spot, such as around pipes, below window sills or in corners, or to measure deeper than 2 inches.
